I was asked a question about Prana for my newsletter and realized it is a great subject and often not discussed unless you roam around people who do yoga. Even then, yogis usually talk about it in terms of breath and techniques. The newsletter has some detail of how to enhance the receiving of Prana in your life.

A healthy living person is filled with Prana, Qi or Universal Life force. Prana penetrates every aspect of life, it is in every physical system, from your digestive system to circulatory system, skeletal, muscular and nervous system. Prana goes to every part of your body, enriching it and keeping it strong and healthy. Prana does the work of repairing, maintaining and growing the body. Prana not only powers the physical processes but the creative processes as well. All these functions are done under the direction of the Mind. Much of the direction is unconscious, for instance you don’t remind your heart to continue beating or direct the body to manage the many hormonal functions always at work in your body.

The Mind regulates the distribution, gathering and storage of Prana. The Mind gives as much possible Prana to whatever part of the body needs it. It does not does not hold back any Prana. The Mind will direct all of its stored Prana to any area that needs it if in crisis.

Prana is not something that is created. Prana is everywhere. We gather Prana to us. Prana is stored in the Solar Plexus or the third Chakra. If I had you in one of my Medical Intuitive classes or Map of Manifestation Classes, I would be able to explain all the ramifications of Prana being stored in the Solar Plexus. At this time let’s just say that Prana storage is the main focus of preventative health care. Prana storage and distribution is the reason the digestive system and esteem/ego issues are stressed in any comprehensive holistic healing practice.

When you have an abunance of Prana you begin to radiate energy and life. You become both magnetic and electric. People and situations are attracted to you. You also send Prana to others to elevate others because it is not meant to be kept to oneself.

Take into account that everything you do requires Prana. Learning how to gather Prana consciously is one of the most important ways you can impact your life and others.

Wendy was a woman who lived on her own in Queens, NY She lived a very simple life. She had a few close friends and a daughter who was distant. Wendy’s job was not too stressful. She could go to work and come home and do her crafts and take care of her home. Wendy lived a simple life. When I first met Wendy, she never complained. Wendy was satisfied with her life. No major dramas in her life and she liked it that way.

When Wendy was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer or adenocarcinoma, she was told that she had six months to live. Wendy didn’t notice the changes in her body or additional pain, because she had become used to her body being in pain. She couldn’t remember a day without pain since she was in her early 20′s. Wendy had some undiagnosable pain, which today there would be more exploration of her possibly have other chronic diseases like fibromyalgia.

Wendy confided in her good friend Carol, a nurse who was exploring energy healing and was experienced in alternative/herbal therapies. This was at a time when I was completely untested as a healer. I had only worked with people who had some pain. Carol had met me at a crystal healing class, where we teamed up in groups of 4 channeling healing energy of crystals to assist people in their healing.

When I first met Wendy she was bright and full of cheer. She had accepted her physician’s diagnosis and treatment. She decided would receive chemotherapy treatments and she was open to other ways of healing. The only thing Wendy was sad about was losing her hair. She knew that she was going to lose her hair from the chemotherapy treatments.

Wendy agreed to see us twice a week. Carol suggested that Wendy start taking an herbal remedy called ESSIAC TEA to help detoxify the effects of the chemotherapy. The first time we met with Wendy as a group to do healing, the effects where immediately noticeable. Wendy was tired and not her usual bright self. One of the most shocking things about Wendy was that she had lost her hair within two weeks of beginning chemotherapy. This was Wendy’s first lesson about the power of the mind. She had convinced herself that she would lose her hair and she did with amazing rapidity.

Week in and week out we visited Wendy in her apartment spending anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours with her in session. Some days were good others not so good. Slowly Wendy’s life story came out and we began to see the emotional components of Wendy’s cancer.

I now know through my studies and observations as a medical intuitive that each type of cancer has a specific mental and emotional component. At the time I was only concerned with healing the physical body and if the emotional, mental and spiritual components were attended to that was a bonus.

Wendy’s started talking about her issues at work and how she couldn’t stomach the people she worked with. She revealed that she didn’t like the person her daughter had become and that there was a great gulf between them. Eventually underneath the calm loving exterior, Wendy began to reveal emotions of resentment, pain, jealousy that she never admitted to herself. She also revealed dreams that she had of things she wanted to do in her life and the relationship she wanted to have with the only living member of her family, her daughter.

We began to outline a plan for Wendy of how to change the relationships she had in her life. We started with the least scary to most scary. Healing her relationship with her daughter was the scariest thing she faced. She even admitted that it was scarier to her than facing her cancer and possible death. Slowly Wendy started confronting her co-workers. She forgave those she needed to forgive and place boundaries around others. With each person she completed her unfinished business with Wendy seemed to get stronger. Finally she was ready to deal with her daughter. Wendy started believing that it was a matter of life or death that she forgive her daughter and get on good speaking terms with her. In one swift move Wendy accomplished this. She said this was the scariest thing she had ever done in her life. Somehow she was able to forgive her daughter and renewed a close relationship with her.

With each step Wendy got stronger and stronger, there was a glow to her skin, no more pale skin. Wendy had more energy and she began to dream of the things she would do when the chemotherapy was done and she was healed. Wendy felt like she was healed, she no longer wanted us to come to her home twice a week, she wanted us once a week and then reduced to every other week. After three months, Wendy went to the oncologist, when she was tested for the cancer again. Wendy was called into the office for the results. Her oncologist told her the news. Actually he apologized, he was sorry but apparently Wendy had been mis-diagnosed as they did not find any cancer, he said. Wendy was ecstatic, and at the same time she was angry at her doctor, because just like any good patient, Wendy had undergone several tests when she received her diagnosis and had gotten several opinions. Her Doctor simply refused to believe that the work she had done with her herbs, diet changes, and inner work. He preferred to believe that she never had cancer in the first place. But Wendy knew better, then left on her dreamtrip to Alaska.

Why visualizations and affirmations don’t work!

I cannot stress how important meditation is for health and healing. I have worked with thousands of people in my career as a medical intuitive and healer. 9 out of 10 of those people don’t have a regular meditation practice. Yet they come to me not understanding why their visualizations and affirmations are not working. The first thing I do with every client and student is make a pact with them to meditate twice a day.

It is my opinion that if you don’t have a regular meditation practice when you are healthy you are setting yourself up for a harder path if you start meditating when something is wrong.

Most of us start meditating, praying, visualizing and affirming when times are hard and when we are in pain. We cannot seem to sit for even two minutes a day every day, practicing stilling the mind, watching our thoughts or paying attention to our breath. We find many excuses not to do it.

Some of us sit down for a few minutes and find that our minds are so chaotic that we give up. It is difficult enough to tame the mind when we are feeling well. We need to practice every day.

What makes us think that we can tame the mind and order it to focus on affirmations when we are in pain or up against a wall? We practice our meditation to get rid of the pain, but in essence the attention is on the pain. We are focused on what we want to get away from and not what we want to go towards.

When we are in pain, our mind will focus on the pain. We need to practice now while we are not in pain, while we have a choice. We practice meditation and visualization when we can lead our minds to where we want to lead it. We train our minds to go where we want now. Then when a crisis hits, when we are in pain we can guide the mind towards healing meditations and it will go there without too much of a fight.

The best reasons for meditation is to reduce stress, come to your “happy place” and to become best friends with yourself.

Two and One Half Minute Meditation

So you say you can’t sit for 30 minutes? You don’t have time? Can’t sit still? Too many interuptions? I have created a 2.5 minute meditation will bring you to a place of stillness in 2.5 minutes. Can you spare 2.5 minutes out of your day to receive the benefits of meditation?

Download a free mp3 download my 2.5 minute meditation.

(reprint from Sacred Postures – Archetypes through Yoga printed August 2003)

The Inner Counselor Process was developed by Ann and Bob Nunley. It is an excellent process that speaks to the heart of a particular issue. Allowing you to find its origin to transform and transmute that issue. The Inner Counselor Process provides an alternative to being in therapy for years and years. Yet the Inner Counselor Process is a very gentle process.

The Inner Counselor Process is not only a psychological process but a spiritual process as well. According to Abraham Maslow there are ten basic needs. If one of these ten basic needs are not met, we learn to compensate in order to get what we need. The compensation is often a protective reaction that may not always be appropriate.

Abraham Maslow’s Ten Basic Needs

strength

creativity

freedom

control

acceptance

connection

love

trust

peace

joy

Inner Counselor process begins by naming a particular issue that is bothering you. The body usually manifests a feeling, connected to the issue. Sometimes the feeling manifests as a physical symptom as well.

An example would be, you are in a traffic jam and get road rage. You may feel this as a tightening of your gut . This is just an example of how this particular feeling of rage may show up, it may manifest somewhere else or differently. The Inner Counselor Process will then help you examine why you feel so enraged by seeking other times in your life when you had the same feeling in your gut. You may find that it is caused by feeling out of control. You are then guided to finding other times in your life when you felt out of control and had the same feeling in your gut You continue following the feeling until you reach an original time you felt out of control with this same feeling in your gut.

The rage manifests itself as a protective reaction to feeling out of control. This protective reaction may have assisted you at one time but may no longer be appropriate and is actually holding you back.

You are then guided to find a different way of reacting to the stimulus which is extremely effective. This is where the process shines.

A session may last around a hour and usually is very profound.

Inner Counselor Chart

The Inner Counselor Process is just one of the tools I use during a Medical Intuitive Session. A medical intuitive in my opinion, is only as good as the tools they have to help you heal. They must also have a broad knowledge of many modalities and therapies for referral. I am available to facilitate the Inner Counselor Process. The process can be done by phone or in person.
