Why visualizations and affirmations don’t work!

I cannot stress how important meditation is for health and healing. I have worked with thousands of people in my career as a medical intuitive and healer. 9 out of 10 of those people don’t have a regular meditation practice. Yet they come to me not understanding why their visualizations and affirmations are not working. The first thing I do with every client and student is make a pact with them to meditate twice a day.

It is my opinion that if you don’t have a regular meditation practice when you are healthy you are setting yourself up for a harder path if you start meditating when something is wrong.

Most of us start meditating, praying, visualizing and affirming when times are hard and when we are in pain. We cannot seem to sit for even two minutes a day every day, practicing stilling the mind, watching our thoughts or paying attention to our breath. We find many excuses not to do it.

Some of us sit down for a few minutes and find that our minds are so chaotic that we give up. It is difficult enough to tame the mind when we are feeling well. We need to practice every day.

What makes us think that we can tame the mind and order it to focus on affirmations when we are in pain or up against a wall? We practice our meditation to get rid of the pain, but in essence the attention is on the pain. We are focused on what we want to get away from and not what we want to go towards.

When we are in pain, our mind will focus on the pain. We need to practice now while we are not in pain, while we have a choice. We practice meditation and visualization when we can lead our minds to where we want to lead it. We train our minds to go where we want now. Then when a crisis hits, when we are in pain we can guide the mind towards healing meditations and it will go there without too much of a fight.

The best reasons for meditation is to reduce stress, come to your “happy place” and to become best friends with yourself.

Two and One Half Minute Meditation

So you say you can’t sit for 30 minutes? You don’t have time? Can’t sit still? Too many interuptions? I have created a 2.5 minute meditation will bring you to a place of stillness in 2.5 minutes. Can you spare 2.5 minutes out of your day to receive the benefits of meditation?
